Kayak Put-In Info for: Jarvis Landing - Newark Slough, Newark
Overview: From Jarvis landing, you can paddle 10 miles (round trip) in protected waters - all the way to the opening of the bay! Excellent bird watching opportunities abound! Good paddle for beginners and canoes.
Parking: Parking is in a paved lot right next to the put in.
Facilities: None. But you if you drive further in to the park, you can find restrooms or porta-potties, the return to the launch area.
Directions: From Highway 84, Take the Paseo Padre Pkwy/Thornton Ave exit. Head South on Thornton Ave for about 0.7 miles. Turn left on the little road that goes into the park. Go 100 feet on this road and turn left into the small parking lot
Cautions: Tell someone where you are going. A GPS might be useful if you think you might get lost in the sloughs. It is 5 miles to the bay - Enter the South bay only if you are an experienced paddler. Check your tide charts - this location can get low water.
