Kayak Put-In Info for: Shoreline, San Leandro to Dumbarton Bridge, San Leandro
Overview: Eden Landing Ecological Reserve - opened May 6, 2016. Operated by CA Dept. of Fish and Game. About 2 miles up a creek from the Bay. Tides are important. Car drop-off but parking about 1/8 mile away. Behind locked gates after hours. There is a nice bay marsh trail system if you bring a trail bike (gravel). Very nice news article, The Mercury News, front page, May 6
Parking: Parking on the Bay Trail. Many positions. Apparently can be 'breakins' on occasions.
Facilities: Three new launch position. Cement ramp, and two separate floating docks. One dock has a plastic floating ramp-cradle (sorry I don't know the term - new at paddling))
Amenities: Adequate plastic commode room. Appears pumped regularly but may be rather filled at the end of a heavy trail-use weekend.
Directions: Eden Landing Rd. off of the eastern approach freeway to the San Mateo Bridge.
Cautions: Looks like you could get 'caught by tides' and have trouble getting back in time to access dock with your vehicle before the gates close in evening. Seems a long tote back. (1/8 mile?)
